On 7 September 1903, the same year that Harley-Davidson produced their first motorcycle, the Kings County Wheelmen of Brooklyn, New York, met with a variety of well known motorcyclists to establish the Federation of American Motorcyclists – a forerunner of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA).
